I think that is what this acknowledgement is all about; it’s an acknowledgement that we’ve been able to build consensus for a new future. I thank you so much and most importantly I thank the California League of Conservation Voters, who I love, 'cause I never have to convince them of any of this!”

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa
City of Los AngelesAs Mayor, Antonio Villaraigosa has successfully pursued a broad, ambitious vision to make Los Angeles the greenest big city in America. His bold Green LA plan aims to reduce the city’s carbon print 35% below 1990 levels by 2030, the greatest reduction target of any large U.S. city. His initiatives at the Port of Los Angeles are driving a new era of pollution reduction at seaports around the world.

The six major motion picture studios
Disney, Fox, Paramount, Sony, Universal, Warner BrothersLike no other institution, the major motion picture studios influence attitudes and actions around the world. They are demonstrating the viability of the triple bottom line that grows social, economic and environmental capital. By focusing on recycling and reuse, for instance, the studios have achieved waste reduction rates better than most municipalities. They’re providing incentives to employees to reduce vehicle miles traveled and putting an industry-wide focus on reuse and on buying sustainably produced products. And, they’ve made joint programs with local governments and environmental groups a valued component of their resource conservation agenda.

David Allgood
California League of Conservation VotersFor more than 20 years, David Allgood has been at the center of political and legislative battles crucial to California’s environmental priorities. As CLCV Southern California Director, Allgood has been instrumental in electing and then holding accountable the elected officials upon whom California depends to advance environmental priorities. Moreover, his non-profit and public service work – serving on the boards of local environmental organizations as well as the California Coastal Commission – has been invaluable to growing the environmental movement throughout Southern California.
