AB 473: Multifamily recycling bill: trashed again
Despite their higher densities, multifamily residential units have had dismally low household recycling rates—on average a meager 15% compared with a 50%-plus statewide average. Fewer than 40% of those living in multifamily units have access to residential recycling services. In spite of this dismal situation, for the third year in a row legislation to require owners of apartments and other multifamily dwellings to provide these services was vetoed. This year it was AB 473 (Blumenfield).
