California burning

They can see the ashes, but they don’t understand. Wildfires burn a path of destruction that runs much deeper than the forest floor.>

Far too many Californians are dealing with devastation, loss of livelihood, and heartbreak. Yet, too many in Congress just aren’t getting the message. Without bold action on climate change, California wildfires start earlier, spread faster, and burn longer than ever before.

Help us get this message through to Congress and demand bold action on climate change — before this year’s wildfire season becomes the new normal. Add your name to the open letter to Congress from the People of California.

Open Letter
from the People of California

To Members of the United States Congress:

California is burning, and human-induced climate change is to blame. Our forests caught fire this year earlier than ever before, and the flames continue to spread through our drought-stricken state. Damages can be calculated in lost property: costs are running higher and higher as the blazes consume our neighborhoods, businesses, and infrastructure. But the true cost may be impossible to measure. We’re losing our homes, our wildlife habitats, our livelihoods…and too many lives.

And unless something changes soon, this will be California’s new normal. Our elected leaders need to step forward and take the bold action on climate change these times demand. Failing to act will be disastrous for our people, our environment, and our state.

The time to act is now, before the next fire ignites. Start by adding your name to this open letter and showing your constituents that you’re offering leadership. Then follow through with immediate, bold action on climate change.

Sincerely,
