Victory on Climate: SB 100 becomes law!

Last week, as thousands of climate activists from around the world came to San Francisco to make bold commitments, elevate frontline communities, and collectively set our intention to address climate change, we were reminded once again of an important truth: Who we elect to public office matters.

This truth is at the center of our mission as an organization, and it brought the world together last week to #ActOnClimate. President Trump walked away from the Paris climate agreement and he continues to walk away from our communities burdened with pollution, our burning landscapes, and the increasing impacts of climate change.

Can you chip in today to help CLCV elect champions this November who will lead California, the nation, and the world in addressing climate change?

But here’s the thing: We have proof of the change that is possible when we elect leaders who embrace climate justice as our generation’s defining issue. Last week California took its boldest step yet on climate change by committing to 100% clean, renewable energy by 2045.

With Governor Brown’s signing of SB 100, California became the largest economy in the world to commit to transitioning how we get our power. This victory was a long journey, including years of effort to elect #ClimateChampions, collaboration with many partners, the tireless work of Kevin de León and two dozen legislative co-sponsors, and, most critically, the support of CLCV members like YOU!

Can you chip in today to help CLCV elect champions for our environment who will move our state and our country forward?

As big as this step is, there is no promise that transitioning to a clean energy economy won’t increase economic disparities in our state. We need your help to ensure this work is a tool for equity, with underserved communities at the center of the policies and implementation to come.

And Election Day on November 6th is right around the corner. This is the biggest opportunity California has had in decades to change the direction of Washington D.C. With critical congressional seats on the line in our state that will be the difference on federal environmental protections, we need you now more than ever.

Can you donate today to help CLCV double down on key congressional races and win?

Thank you for standing with us and investing in our shared vision. It matters who represents us in public office. It makes all the difference. And with your help, we can make this difference together.
