At the Environmental Leadership Awards Dinner on March 25th, 2006, CLCV celebrated the work of planner and architect Peter Calthorpe, developer Rick Holliday, and developer Greg Vilkin on behalf of Forest City Enterprises.

In his introductory remarks, CLCV Board President Tom Adams highlighted the many ways redevelopment in our existing cities protects our precious open space and farmland, reduces the time people spend in traffic and our dependence on oil, increases opportunities for affordable housing, and creates thriving, livable cities.

"Housing is where jobs go to sleep at night," noted Vilkin in his acceptance remarks. "If we don't have houses, we don't have jobs. If we don't have jobs, we don't have taxes, and we don't have all the things that we need. So it all is a big circle and we all need to stay focused on the holistic solution."
