24th Annual CLCV Environmental Leadership Awards Dinner

Saturday, March 25, 2006

Honorees:

PETER CALTHORPE has received broad recognition as a founder of New Urbanism, the innovative approach to creating livable, sustainable communities. One of the world's most respected urban and regional planners, he has helped redefine our models of urban and suburban growth while creating an environmental approach to community development.
RICK HOLLIDAY stretches the development envelope and designs projects which exemplify the benefits of effective partnerships among private developers, non-profit affordable housing developers, and the public sector. He brought loft living to San Francisco, launched two of the nation’s most successful affordable housing corporations (Eden Housing and BRIDGE Housing Corporation) and continues to create livable, workable, and flexible spaces that meet the needs of our diverse and constantly changing cities.
FOREST CITY ENTERPRISES and GREG VILKIN pioneer new models of responsible development, create long-lasting partnerships with the people in the communities in which they work, and prove that sustainability is the trend of the future. Their leading-edge revitalization of urban neighborhoods confirms that elegant density is a solution to sprawl and that adaptive re-use is the ultimate form of recycling.
