| Assembly Speaker John A. Pérez |
The Honorable Richard Katz |
Environmentalist Rampa R. Hormel |
Maywood Mayor Ana Rosa Rizo |
| Speaker Pérez served on the board of CLCV for more than 10 years; CLCV played an integral part in John’s election to the Assembly. As a legislator, John went to work with the residents of Maywood to pass The City of Maywood Safe Drinking Water Act. This measure requires local water companies to clean up severely degraded water and make them more accountable. | Katz served in the Assembly for 16 years, earning a CLCV lifetime score of 90%. He was California’s lead negotiator for the landmark Colorado River Agreement between the state, the Federal Government, four California Water Agencies and the six Colorado River Basin States. He now provides leadership on Los Angeles transportation issues on the boards of the MTA and METRO. | Rampa currently serves on the board of the League of Conservation Voters. With Rampa’s support we started the CLCV Education Fund and conducted California’s first survey of Latino voters environmental opinions. This research supported CLCV’s Latino outreach work and sparked lasting efforts in the community. | The Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters worked closely with CLCV to reform Maywood city government by electing leaders, including Ana Rosa Rizo, who were invested in the environment. Ana Rosa worked with Assemblymember Pérez to pass The City of Maywood Safe Drinking Water Act and led the City Council to resolve to unanimously oppose the Anti-AB 32 initiative. |
