I urge you to maintain adequate funding for core environmental and public health programs in California's state budget by supporting the Resources Trailer Bill and insisting that environmental funding remain intact. In this time of tight general fund revenues, the funding structures proposed in the trailer bill place a fair share of the costs of cleaning up pollution on those responsible for the pollution and create long-term funding sources that do not rely on general fund revenue.

Industries that pollute California's air, land and water should help pay the state's costs of monitoring and enforcing our environmental laws. I urge you to support stable funding for coast and ocean protection, wildlife management, water, forestry and clean air programs, and to maintain core environmental programs at levels that allow them to be effective.
