CLCV Launches a Blog

So much of what happens in politics is behind the scenes. As the non-partisan political action arm of California’s environmental movement for the past thirty-five years, CLCV has a lot to say about politics and policymakers.

Our blog gives anyone interested in environmental politics a lively forum to learn more and converse about what’s going on behind the scenes, in the media, at the polls and more. Members of CLCV's staff, as well as visiting guest bloggers, will be posting our impressions of what's going on in California and national politics, particularly but not exclusively in regard to the environment.

Transportation is the source of 40% of California's global warming emissions.

One way to put cleaner cars and trucks on the road is to make them more affordable. AB 493 (Ruskin) will create the Clean Car Discount Program, which will give one-time rebates to people who buy cleaner cars, and charge surcharges to buyers of new cars that emit higher levels of pollutants. It's a simple and effective idea.
