CLCV Board Member Mary Nichols to Lead State Air Board
CLCV is delighted to announce that, on July 3, 2007, CLCV Board Member Mary Nichols was nominated as the Chair of the California Air Resources Board (CARB). Mary brings decades of experience in state and local government on air quality issues to this position. She is widely respected for her contributions and commitment to environmental protection. At this critical time in state efforts to implement global warming reduction efforts and air quality improvements, we can think of no better person at the helm than Mary Nichols.
"This is great news for California," said CLCV Executive Director Susan Smartt. "Mary is an environmental leader of the first order, and her contributions to public health and environmental protection are well respected. California needs bold, aggressive action from CARB to meet Governor Schwarzenegger's air quality and global warming promises. And Mary's determined leadership is exactly what CARB needs."
