CLCV keeps Canciamilla accountable
A new tool in our voter education toolbox
In our continuing work to keep California's lawmakers accountable to their
constituents, the California League of Conservation Voters is raising
awareness of Assemblymember Joe Canciamilla's disappointing environmental record in his East
Bay district. This week, we sent important mail to over 30,000 voters in Assemblymember
Canciamilla's district, pointing out the need for Canciamilla to stand up
to the Bush administration's rollbacks of our federal environmental protections
by passing strong laws at the state level.
Though Assemblymember Canciamilla is chair of the Assembly Water, Parks, and Wildlife
Committee, and represents part of the Bay Area, one of the most environmentally
conscious areas of the country, his record on the environment is disappointingly poor. Canciamilla, who sports a mediocre 72%
lifetime average CLCV score, also chairs the Assembly Moderate Caucus; in that
role he has embarked on an alarming mission to kill environmental bills. (Read our
in-depth article about the Assembly Moderate Caucus, from our most recent E-Newsletter.)
Our accountability campaign encourages voters in his district to stay
informed on his record and to take action.

our website.
We launched this voter education campaign because Assemblymember Canciamilla has failed to consistently support the environment. With your help, we can continue to educate voters about their legislators' records and enable them to speak out. Please consider making a special contribution to the California League of Conservation Voters to support our accountability work.
