2004 California Environmental Scorecard scores released
Decline in Legislature’s pro-environment votes in stark contrast to continued rise in public support for the environment
SACRAMENTO — Today, the California League of Conservation Voters released the scores from the 2004 California Environmental Scorecard, our 31st annual guide to environmental legislation and votes. Scores are available on CLCV's website at http://www.ecovote.org/scorecard/.
2004 saw a decline in environmental scores overall. The Legislature continues to be divided along party lines: Assembly Republicans scored an average of 6% and Senate Republicans averaged just 1.5%, while Democrats in each house averaged 85% and 87% (respectively). There were more 0% scores than there were 100% scores, but Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger split the difference with a 58% rating. Find out more:

contributions to defeat pro-environment candidates? JOBSPAC.
A political committee called JOBSPAC has put out a slew of campaign ads from
Santa Barbara to San Diego against our endorsed candidates. JOBSPAC is the
political arm of the California Chamber of Commerce and, despite its name,
focuses not on creating jobs but defeating strong environmental candidates on
Election Day. Find out more in our investigative report.
