Four minutes for Prop 84
We need your help to make sure that California continues to invest in clean water, parks and coastal protection. Proposition 84, a measure on California’s November ballot, will do just that.
Help us spread the word about Prop 84 to your friends & family by giving "4 minutes for Prop 84" between now and Election Day!
We're counting on the personal outreach effort from friends like you to help us build a groundswell of grassroots support for Prop 84, a critical environmental infrastructure bill on this November's ballot—especially critical now that
millions of absentee ballots are already being mailed to voters across California.
Just a few facts about Proposition 84 make the point:
- More than 60% of California's rivers and streams fail to meet federal Clean Water Act standards.
- California's beaches had more than 5000 closures and health warnings in 2005 alone.
- Our state parks have been chronically neglected and desperately need funding to ensure that future generations will be able to appreciate our natural heritage.
Proposition 84 is a $5.4 billion citizen initiative placed on the ballot through the efforts of conservation groups to ensure that our natural resources aren't ignored by Sacramento. It provides:
- $1.5 billion for water quality improvements and safe drinking water
- Nearly $1 billion for the protection of rivers, lakes and streams
- $540 million for coast and ocean protection
- $450 million for forest and wildlife conservation
- $400 million for state parks
- $580 million for sustainable communities and climate change reduction
Prop 84 is an investment in green infrastructure, the protection and restoration of our natural resources that the Legislature failed to include in the bonds they passed. With just a few clicks of your mouse, you can help us get out the word and get out the vote for Prop 84.
