California League of Conservation Voters e-update

Dear Conservation Voter,

On Election Day, California did its job; we went to the polls and overwhelmingly chose to protect the health of our communities by electing candidates that care deeply about environmental protection.

California League of Conservation Voters endorsed 58 state candidates, and all but two of them won their races—that’s a winning percentage of 97%! (For election results, go to www.ecovote.org.)

On Tuesday, the country also re-elected the worst environmental President in the history of the United States. Some of our members are saying: California is the right state in the wrong nation.

For this very reason, we must continue to lead the nation when it comes to environmental protection -- fighting Bush rollbacks of the Roadless Rule on public lands, helping Governor Schwarzenegger add new state parks, and working to overturn Proposition 64. (See our current Action Alerts for more info.)

And, of course, we are already strategizing for the 2006 elections.

Now, more than ever, we need to protect California from the Bush Administration’s attacks and rollbacks of our fundamental environmental protections.
