19. CalEPA PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
Late last year the Wilson Administration drafted a proposal calling for state scientists to destroy certain evidence about health problems caused by toxic chemicals. Public outrage led to public hearings, called by Senator Byron Sher. The outcome was SB 1320 (Sher) which restores scientific integrity at CalEPA by requiring scientific peer review of any new rule proposal.
