Van Jones of White House Council on Environmental Quality

Van Jones is a tireless advocate committed to creating “green pathways out of poverty” and expanding the coalition fighting global warming. Jones recently joined the Obama Administration as the Special Adviser for Green Jobs, Enterprise & Innovation at the White House Council on Environmental Quality. He is the founder of Green For All, with the mission of building an inclusive, green economy that is strong enough to resolve the ecological crisis and lift millions of people out of poverty. Jones is also a TIME magazine 2008 Environmental Hero, one of Fast Company’s 12 Most Creative Minds of 2008, and the New York Times bestselling author of “The Green Collar Economy: How One Solution Can Solve Our Two Biggest Problems,” published in 2008.

Perry is the founder of Next 10, an independent, nonpartisan organization that educates, engages and empowers Californians to improve California’s future. Next 10 examines the complex relationships between the state’s economy, its environment, and its citizens’ quality of life. Senate President pro Tem Darrell Steinberg

Darrell Steinberg is the President pro Tempore of the California State Senate. Elected to the Senate in 2006 after serving in the State Assembly and on the Sacramento City Council, Steinberg has authored nationally recognized legislation to reduce carbon emissions from automobiles through smart planning, made public schools accountable for dropouts and ensured foster and adopted children can get mental health services. Steinberg’s groundbreaking SB 375, which was signed into law in 2008, is the first bill in the nation that links land use decisions in transportation and housing to greenhouse reduction goals. Co-sponsored by the California League of Conservation Voters and the Natural Resources Defense Council, SB 375 is hailed as the previously missing piece of the climate change/pollution puzzle.
