Why volunteer?

2006 is a critical year to elect pro-environmental candidates. Our electoral success is likely to determine California's environmental health for years to come, because in the next few years, the legislature will make critical decisions regarding global warming, coastal protection, affordable housing, development, wildlife management, and energy resources.

The most important resource for the candidates we support is simply on-the-ground grassroots help. Political campaigns depend on having active volunteers who can contribute time to vital campaign tasks including talking to voters on the phone or walking door-to-door. No amount of time is too small — even an hour can be a big help — even better is a few hours a week.

Environmental candidates, especially, need grassroots volunteers to overcome the funding advantages afforded to candidates who are willing to do the bidding of polluters with deep pockets. Volunteering for our outstanding endorsed candidates is an easy and fun way to participate in protecting California's environment, in addition to voting and supporting CLCV.
