SACRAMENTO – Today, the California League of Conservation Voters (CLCV) announced a new fundraising initiative to deepen the participation of philanthropic members in the lifeblood of CLCV’s work. The CLCV Eco Power Caucus is a new membership group comprised of individual and organizational donors who prioritize the environment and demand bold climate action from their elected leaders, during the 2020 election cycle and beyond.

“CLCV represents 150,000 members across the state who believe in the core value of its work to build power to change what is possible to improve our democracy and push forward bold environmental policy,” said Mary Creasman CEO of the California League of Conservation Voters and CLCV Education Fund. “The Eco Power Caucus will allow us to partner directly with contributing members to bring our work to communities throughout California and organize for climate action.”

In response to COVID-19, CLCV has developed new avenues to raise funds in an environment in which traditional events have not been possible. The Eco Power Caucus provides a way for our most dedicated supporters to continue to support CLCV’s work and engage with CLCV and each other through virtual events. The Caucus also provides an opportunity for our team to work closely with these supporters to organize and engage them in our priority advocacy efforts.   Funds raised provide essential resources for CLCV’s strategic priorities which include electing environmental champions, holding our elected officials accountable to the public, educating the electorate on the most pressing environmental issues, and building electoral power across all regions of the State of California.

“Environmental leadership starts at CLCV. They are my go-to group for identifying new and innovative policy proposals to combat the climate crisis and to strengthen protections for clean air and water for our communities,”  said Ash Kalra, California State Assemblymember (D-San Jose).

“CLCV’s work is critical, now more than ever, and I am proud to support their efforts to create a just and clean economy,” said California Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon. “In order to build power in our state and nationally, we need to build a movement that prioritizes organizing and building communities up. This is the work that CLCV is doing, day and night, and the Eco Power Caucus is necessary to those efforts.”

The Eco Power Caucus kicks off on Thursday, June 25th at 12:30 PT with a virtual event featuring U.S. Congressmember Mike Levin: California’s Clean Energy Congressional Champion.  Those interested in attending can RSVP at [email protected]. Individuals interested in membership in the CLCV Eco Power Caucus can contact the Philanthropy Department at [email protected]  or click here.
